Global alt-pop phenom sombr will release his highly anticipated debut album I Barely Know Her on August 22 via Warner Records. Written entirely by the 20-year-old MTV VMA Best New Artist nominee and co-produced with legendary producer Tony Berg (Phoebe Bridgers, boygenius, The Replacements), the album marks the next chapter in a meteoric rise that’s seen sombr break records, sell out arenas, and dominate streaming charts in just two short years.
The announcement comes on the heels of a blockbuster run of singles. “back to friends” and “undressed” continue to climb the Billboard Hot 100 and Top 40 Radio, while “12 to 12” – his biggest debut yet – has broken into the Top 20 on the UK Official Singles Chart and is racking up millions of streams worldwide.
Sombr’s breakout has been nothing short of historic. He hit #1 at Alternative Radio faster than any new artist in the past decade, surpassed two billion career streams, and earned two nominations at the 2025 MTV VMAs — Best New Artist and Best Alternative for “back to friends.”

Raised on the Lower East Side of New York City, sombr — born Shane Boose — started making music in his bedroom while studying classical music at LaGuardia High School.
